Istanbul, month by month

We don't read Turkey's government monitoring network: it publishes only on its own website. Its website doesn't answer requests from outside the country, so we can't read it. Istanbul's figures come from community low-cost sensors, not that network. What we measure in Turkey.

Istanbul has a measured daily mean on 711 days since 4 October 2024. Its worst month was September 2025, at 112 US AQI (39.8 µg/m³), 28th of 3,245 cities on that month's world ranking. Its cleanest was April 2026, at 64 US AQI (15.9 µg/m³).

Each square is a month's mean PM2.5 in US AQI from Istanbul's measured days, with its place on that month's world ranking under it. A month has a mean once 70% of its days are measured, the rule the monthly rankings use; under that, the square gives the days measured. Each square opens that month's ranking with Istanbul marked; each year, the year's. A dashed square is the running month, so far.
